As President and Chief Executive Officer, I have the pleasure of
welcoming you to the Company’s Website.
The progressive movements of developments and implementation of
large industrial projects, reflects the deep concern of the
leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the industrialization
of the Kingdom, on the basis of scientific and modern technologies.
The Saudi leadership has continued to play an important and
constructive role through implementation of hundreds of big projects
in almost all parts of the Kingdom. Saudi Aramco Mobil Refinery
Company Limited (known as SAMREF) is one of these large projects.
SAMREF is a joint venture owned equally by Saudi Arabian Oil Company
(Saudi Aramco) and Exxon Mobil Corporation (ExxonMobil) of the
United States of America.
The significance of SAMREF can be seen from many aspects, namely:
» In-Kingdom processing of crude oil, which enables the Kingdom of
Saudi Arabia to export finished products and not only crude oil.
This constitutes an important transition in the methods of best
utilization of the Kingdom’s oil wealth;
» Availability of oil energy in the Western province
provides a positive, quick and constructive contribution for the
development of the new Industrial City of Madinat Yanbu Al-Sinaiyah;
» Offering new opportunities for Saudis to participate in
the industrialization programs and providing them with training and
career development, to qualify them to undertake the leadership and
management of the Kingdom’s projects.
SAMREF’s vision is to be the leading refinery in the Middle East. It
is well on its way to achieving that vision but it is a continuing
road, calling for constant striving for as near to perfection as
possible. The Company has many records of which it is proud,
including, but not limited to, an enviable safety record and a
mechanical reliability which puts the Company into the first
quartile of refineries.
All the above could not have been achieved without a dedicated,
loyal and conscientious Workforce, of whom 92% are Saudi Arabian
Nationals. They are proud of being SAMREF’s employees. It is through
this employment that they are making a valuable contribution to the
welfare of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the local Community and the
wider community of the Region.
