The meeting of SAMREF board of directors was recently held. It was headed by SAMREF board chairman, Dr. Faisal Al-Faqeer, to discuss a diverse business agenda related to the strategic plans and goals in order to achieve and sustain SAMREF’s future growth prospects.

SAMREF participated as a silver sponsor in the 4th International Fire Operations Conference (IFOC) which was organized by the Civil Defense from 05 to 07 November 2024 under the patronage of Prince/ Abdulaziz Bin Saud Bin Naif, the Minister of Interior.

Under the auspices of Yanbu Governor, Mr. Saad Al-Suhaimi, SAMREF-CSR launches “Ihya” on 29 October 2024, in collaboration with Yanbu Municipality, Border Guard, Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, the National Center for Environmental Compliance (NECEC) and Sorting and Recycling Co. For Environmental Services (EADA).
The initiative is in continuation of SAMREF-CSR efforts to reinforce community engagement and promote environmental awareness with the objective of cleaning the seabed in protection of the marine environment.
The “SAMREF Tourist Diving Beach” initiative was launched in collaboration with Yanbu Municipality to provide a fully-equipped facility where users can enjoy diving in a safe and comfortable environment.
The initiative is in continuation of SAMRE-CSR efforts to support tourism, sea sports in Saudi Arabia in general, and to promote Yanbu as an advantageous destination in particular. The new beach facility is easily accessible with many features like modern changing rooms, secure diving/sporting tool lockers and relaxing areas.

As part of the investors assembly, the CEO of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu (RCJY), Mr. Khalid Al-Salem recognized SAMREF for winning the 2024 CSR and Sustainability award.
SAMREF has been recognized by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources for being placed in a high level in the Future Factories Program by adopting advanced technologies and automated solutions to improve and sustain manufacturing and production efficiency. The recognition was during the Riyadh International Industry Week – 2024.
SAMREF took part in the 6th Middle East Process engineering Exhibition and Conference which was held from 06 to 08 May at Dhahran Expo, Saudi Arabia.
During the event sessions, technical papers were delivered by SAMREF engineers, namely on (Enhancing Safety and Emergency Response in Industrial Processes) by AlMuhannad I. Basuni and (Advanced Process Control Tools Toward Plant Optimization) by Safi M. Albuhairi. In addition, two papers on (The Deployment of New Technologies and Initiatives in SAMREF SRU) and (SAMREF SRU Catalyst Management, Retrofit and Optimization Initiatives During the 2023 T/A) were delivered by Khalid S. Ghazal.
Such a participation was in line with SAMREF strategy to strengthen its leading position while allowing employees to gain more knowledge and exchange experiences with other industries.
As part of SAMREF-CSR programs, “Tatweer” initiative was implemented in association with Yanbu College of Applied Technology. The target group included beneficiaries from charity societies, social security, Education Takaful and orphans.
The initiative covered a series of training courses in advanced cellphone maintenance, computer/printer software/hardware, domestic electrical cabling, welding skills, filmmaking and e-marketing. Such courses are to promote living levels and create new job opportunities for local community individuals.
On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, a 2-day entertainment therapy exhibition for persons with disabilities was organized at Dana Mall in association with Mashorah Family Guidance center.
The event was part of SAMREF-CSR initiatives to provide a variety of awareness and Q&A sessions to promote physical, mental and social wellness of persons with special needs through entertainment-based therapy tools.
As part of the SAMREF-PR, CSR & Media initiatives, a blood donation campaign was organized in collaboration with Yanbu Health Cluster (IV).
The campaign was to promote overall health awareness and strengthen the life-saving culture of blood donation among the employees in support of the local community wellbeing.
SAMREF Labor Committee took part in the 2023 Company Heads and Labor Committees Conference and Exhibition organized by the SNCWC under the auspices of the minister of the Human Resources and Social Development, Mr. Ahmed S. Al-Rajhi in the presence of the HRSD deputy minister, Mr. Abdullah N. Abuthnain.

Under the auspices of the Governor of Yanbu, Mr. Saad Al-Suhaimi, in the presence of SAMREF President & CEO, Mr. Khalid K. Al-Jehairan, Director of Yanbu Municipality, Mr. Yasser Al-Refaie and Director of Yanbu Education department, Mr. Saleem Al-Atwi; the “Yanbu Green” initiative was inaugurated in association with Yanbu Municipality. It aims to plant around 150K trees at Yanbu Cornish, schools, health care centers and mosques.

The initiative also aims to achieve the “Saudi Green” objectives by encouraging the community individuals to help increase the overall green spaces while contributing to promoting the environmental protection and awareness to improve climate conditions.

Represented in IS&GA department, SAMREF took part in the “Security Excellence Forum” held on 29 October 2019 at Saudi Aramco Security Academy in Dhahran. The objective of the forum is to exchange experiences and explore potentials for more collaboration amongst the affiliates in industrial security area.
SAMREF participated in the forum for many objectives, particularly as to reinforce ties with other organizations, keep pace with latest knowledge and boost overall collaboration in order to seize more improvement chances.
During the event, Mohanad J. Al-Ahmadi and Mahmaud Y. Assaul were honored in recognition of their active participation.

As part of the continuous career development efforts as to ensure preparedness for job challenges in general and to cope with the latest international maritime security measures in particular, IS&GA organized the "Port Facilities Safety & Security Measures" course, from 17 to 21 Oct 2019 at the Holiday Inn hotel. The course was delivered by the SME/ Mr. Mahmoud Tamer.
To strengthen partnership with the concerned government authorities and to help develop their personnel, officials from security authorities and law enforcements (HCIS and Border Guard) took part in the course.

In 2019, Technical department recognized Abdullah Ashry and Hussain Dabbagh for their achievements in getting certifications of Advanced Planning software – PIMS-AO by AspenTech since they are the first people in the world who obtained this certification.
That is considered as adding a value to our company because the certification strongly contributes to Samref’s mission of building a competent and optimized task force as well as the core values of excellence and citizenship. It also solidifies the E&P section efforts towards sustaining operational excellence via optimal planning.
Noteworthy, the E&P section is also in the process of completing a blending optimization project that has shown promising benefits.
On behalf of SAMREF, the Vice President – Administration, Finance and Industrial Security, Mr. Saud H. Khallaf signed the new land lease agreement for SAMREF sulfur port facility with King Fahad Industrial Port (KFIP) – Yanbu – represented by their director captain/ Abdullah M. Al-Zahrani.
